On March 15, 2018, the Chamber of Deputies of the United Mexican States appointed Mr. David Rogelio Colmenares Páramo as Auditor General of Mexico for the 2018-2026 period.

Mr. Colmenares-Páramo has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Regarding his professional career, he has held relevant positions in the public sector, highlighting the following: Head of the States Coordination Unit at the Ministry of Finance (SHCP); Deputy Auditor General of Mexico responsible for the Federal Resources Transferred to States and Municipalities; Internal Comptroller at the Federal Court of Justice for Fiscal and Administrative Matters, and Head of the Regional Coordination and Institutional Relations Unit at the Federal Authority for the Development of Special Economic Zones.

Since 1978, Mr. Colmenares-Páramo has broad experience as lecturer, teaching subjects such as State Finance and Fiscal Policy, as well as seminars on the public sector.

Due to his vast experience as public officer and in the academia, the Auditor General has different publications, including:

  • Equity and fiscal efforts, the Mexican experience (2006)
  • Citizen engagement and social control (1994)
  • Fiscal federalism in Mexico 1989-1994 (1994)
  • Economic and social factors of corruption (1993)
  • Since 1979, he has collaborated with diverse local and national print media. He currently participates in opinion columns of relevant press media such as El Financiero y the weekly Eje Central.

As for his participation in professional and academic associations, Mr. Colmenares-Páramo has been President of the Higher National School of Economists; he is currently a member of the Governing Boards of both the Higher National School of Economists, the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP), and the Technical Committee of the National Conference of Mexico’s Municipalities.
